Gunmen ambush joint security patrol in Plateau, kill two operatives

Gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol in Nigeria's Plateau State, killing two operatives and stealing their service rifles. The attack occurred along the Ganawuri-Sabon Gida road in Riyom Local Government Area on Tuesday morning.

Security sources reported that the operatives were returning to their duty posts after an operation when the ambush took place. A search by colleagues confirmed the deaths of two personnel, with their service rifles missing. The operatives' motorcycle was recovered at the scene.

Following the incident, security forces initiated cordon-and-search operations in nearby communities. The goal is to track down the attackers and retrieve the stolen weapons. As of the time of reporting, the identities of the slain operatives had not been officially confirmed. Efforts to get official statements from the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace were unsuccessful.
