Haiti: Monitoring major infrastructure projects at the Caracol Industrial Park (video)

Haiti's Minister of Economy and Finance, Serge Gabriel Collin, led a delegation to Cap-Haïtien to assess the progress of Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) funded projects. This visit focused on key infrastructure developments, including the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC). The delegation's inspection covered the PIC's solar power plant, which has a total capacity of 13.4 MW, and the construction of two new industrial buildings, each spanning 11,776 square meters, also financed by the IDB.

Beyond industrial development, the visit also encompassed environmental initiatives such as the restoration of the Caracol mangroves and the rehabilitation of the Lac de Phaéton, supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFIDA). These efforts demonstrate a commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability in the region.

Minister Collin emphasized the strategic importance of the Caracol Industrial Park in generating employment and stimulating the economy of the Grand Nord region. He stressed the need for enhanced commitment, discipline, and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of these investments. The ongoing development projects are seen as crucial for Haiti's economic recovery and future prosperity.
