Hamas warns of consequences over Israel's closure of Ibrahimi Mosque

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has issued a strong warning regarding the repercussions of the Israeli authorities' decision to close the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, West Bank. Hamas characterized the closure as a direct assault on religious freedom and a blatant violation of the sanctity of Islamic places of worship.

Israeli occupation forces reportedly shut the Ibrahimi Mosque to worshippers on Wednesday morning, citing a Jewish holiday. Local sources indicated that Palestinians were barred from entering the mosque complex to prevent them from being present while Israeli settlers entered the area. Hamas described this action as part of a systematic campaign by what it called extremist and fascist Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people and land.

Hamas stated that these policies aim to accelerate the annexation and Judaization of Palestinian territories, including holy sites. The movement emphasized that the Ibrahimi Mosque is an integral part of the religious, national, and historical identity of the Palestinian people and Muslims worldwide. Hamas asserted that Israel's attempts to impose division and control over the mosque grant it no rights or legitimacy to claim sovereignty over the site.

The movement called upon Palestinians in Hebron and across the occupied West Bank to reinforce their presence around the Ibrahimi Mosque. They were urged to confront the restrictions, Judaization policies, and attacks on holy sites. Hamas also appealed to Arab and Islamic nations, both governmental and societal levels, to take immediate steps to halt the aggression against the Ibrahimi Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and all Muslim holy sites.
