Hamilton police seek 15-year-old suspect in double homicide

Hamilton police are actively searching for 15-year-old Rahziel Martin, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two teenagers and injured others in Stoney Creek. Martin faces charges of two counts of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder using a firearm.

Authorities obtained judicial authorization to identify Martin under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, a measure taken to aid in his apprehension. The shooting occurred early Wednesday morning on Candlewood Drive, where officers discovered 18-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli and a 16-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds. Both succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Police are cautioning members of the public to not approach Martin if they see him. Instead, they should call 911.

Investigators suspect the violence may be linked to a prior incident involving bear spray in another part of Hamilton. Police have issued a public warning, advising citizens not to approach Martin if sighted, and instead to contact emergency services immediately. They have also urged Martin to seek legal counsel and surrender to authorities.
