Han Dong-hoon: Police, Reform Party's Knowledge of Staged Assault Violated Voting Rights

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon has demanded that the police and the Reform Party reveal when they became aware that a candidate's assault was staged. Han stated that if this information was known before the June election, it amounts to a violation of citizens' voting rights.

Han argued that the suspect, Jeong Yi-han, gained an unfair advantage and potentially more votes due to public sympathy for the staged attack. He asserted that Busan citizens were deceived and their right to vote was compromised, as fewer would have voted for Jeong had the truth been known before the election.

The lawmaker recalled raising the issue in a post-election interview, emphasizing that the police's prior knowledge of the staged attack and subsequent failure to disclose it would constitute election interference. He cited a recent report suggesting Jeong confessed to the staged assault to the police well before the election.
