Residents in the municipalities of Brakel, Zottegem, and Lierde experienced significant disruption on Monday evening due to intense rainfall. The downpour, occurring around 6:30 PM, overwhelmed local drainage systems, resulting in widespread waterlogging and flooding in several streets and properties.

In Brakel, the Boembekestraat in Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove became inundated, with water breaching the capacity of the sewers. This led to water entering numerous garages and even some homes in Opbrakel. Similar issues were reported along Steenweg, Spende, and Eikenmolen in Lierde, where residents also grappled with water damage.

While the impact was felt across the region, the flooding in Zottegem appeared more contained, primarily affecting the sub-municipalities of Strijpen, Erwetegem, and Sint-Maria-Oudenhove.
