A pervasive and deeply unpleasant odor, strongly reminiscent of human excrement, has settled over the Viikki neighborhood in Helsinki, causing significant distress to its residents. Multiple inhabitants have contacted the city authorities to report the stench, which seems to be emanating from a ditch along Viikinoja. The smell is so potent that it has been described as "horrible" and capable of causing dizziness.

Marianne Taipale, a resident of Latokartanonkaari, vividly described the experience of walking near the ditch. She recounted holding her hand to her nose and mouth, her eyes squinting against the overwhelming miasma. The offensive odor, she stated, is "truly horrible" and "makes one dizzy."

Despite the clear and present discomfort experienced by the community, the exact source of this foul smell remains elusive. City officials are reportedly aware of the complaints, but the origin of the malodor has yet to be pinpointed.
