Heritage Ride Taiping aims for 2,000 cyclists, promoting health and local history

The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026 is gearing up to host 2,000 cyclists for its third edition, scheduled to take place at Dataran Warisan Taiping in Perak, Malaysia, on October 25. More than half of the participation quota has already been filled, indicating strong interest from cycling enthusiasts nationwide.

Organized by Kelab Berbasikal Elit in collaboration with Gosportz Sdn. Bhd., the event aims to solidify Taiping's status as a prime destination for cycling and recreational activities. The program features a blend of competitive racing and a relaxed leisure ride, allowing participants to experience the unique charm of the heritage city. Three categories are offered: a 90-kilometer race, a 60-kilometer race, and a 20-kilometer leisure ride suitable for families.

Heritage Ride not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also serves as a platform to introduce the historical and heritage values of Taiping city to the community.

Taiping Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Education, Wong Kah Woh, highlighted that the Heritage Ride serves not only to promote healthy living but also to introduce the historical and cultural heritage of Taiping. He noted Taiping's significance as Malaysia's "First City of Many" for its historical achievements, including being the first planned city, having the first public park, and the first railway line in the country.

To further enhance the event's appeal, organizers have collaborated with Taiping Zoo, offering 1,000 free tickets to registered participants, which were quickly claimed. The Ministry of Education is supporting free registration for students aged seven to 17, encouraging youth involvement. Registration remains open until August 23, or until the 2,000-participant limit is reached. All participants will receive an official T-shirt, finisher medal, souvenir bag, and digital certificate, with cash prizes and trophies for the top five finishers in the 90km and 60km categories.
