Ho Chi Minh City announces National Day holiday schedule for public employees and workers

Ho Chi Minh City has announced a five-day continuous holiday for public officials and workers to celebrate National Day in 2026. The break will run from Saturday, August 29, to Wednesday, September 2.

This extended holiday is facilitated by a work-day exchange. Monday, August 31, will be designated as a working day, which will be compensated by working on Saturday, August 22. This arrangement, combined with the usual weekend days, creates a consecutive five-day break for many employees.

The city's People's Committee has instructed all relevant agencies, businesses, schools, hospitals, and armed forces to display the national flag during the holiday period. Local authorities are responsible for encouraging citizens to fly the flag in their communities.

Furthermore, departments are required to ensure adequate staffing for essential services and maintain security, fire prevention, and public safety across the city. Efforts will also be made to ensure continuous service delivery to the public and maintain urban cleanliness and civilized living standards.
