Ho Chi Minh City launches, breaks ground on projects worth over $7.3 billion

Ho Chi Minh City marked Vietnam's National Day with a significant wave of development, inaugurating and commencing construction on 11 major projects valued at over 181 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately $7.3 billion USD). The ceremonies, held across various locations, highlighted the city's commitment to infrastructure enhancement and urban improvement.

Among the key projects launched is the upgrade and expansion of National Highway 13, a vital artery connecting the city to Binh Duong province. This project, with a total investment of nearly 21 trillion dong, aims to increase capacity with 10-14 lanes. Similarly, National Highway 1 will undergo a significant upgrade over a 9.62 km stretch, involving three components and an investment of about 16.285 trillion dong, enhancing connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding regions.

Further bolstering the city's infrastructure, the Ring Road 4 project, comprising multiple components and an estimated investment of 120 trillion dong, was also initiated. This ambitious project includes sections for expressways and is being developed through both public investment and public-private partnerships. Additionally, the Binh Duong province's environmental water improvement project, with a budget of over 7.2 trillion dong, aims to control urban wastewater pollution and is slated for completion in 2028.

The city also broke ground on urban beautification projects, such as the Mả Lạng and Gà - Gạo market area redevelopment, which aims to improve living conditions for residents. A social housing project, expected to deliver around 342 apartments with a total investment of 306 billion dong, was also part of the groundbreaking ceremonies, addressing the city's housing needs.
