Ho Chi Minh City launches major infrastructure projects worth over $7.2 billion

Ho Chi Minh City has launched and inaugurated 11 significant projects, collectively valued at over 181 trillion VND (approximately $7.2 billion). These initiatives span infrastructure, urban development, and social welfare, signaling a major push to enhance the city's growth and livability.

During the launch ceremony, city leaders, including Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh, emphasized the projects as a practical gift celebrating national holidays and a testament to the city's ongoing commitment. "All infrastructure development and urban reconstruction policies must stem from the legitimate and practical interests of the people, aiming to improve their quality of life," Vinh stated.

The projects are designed to tackle critical issues such as traffic congestion and expand development opportunities for the southern economic region. Key infrastructure works include the expansion of National Highway 13 and National Highway 1, along with sections of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4. These upgrades are crucial for improving connectivity and facilitating smoother traffic flow.

In urban renewal and social welfare, the city is initiating projects to renovate areas like Ma Lang and Ga Gao market, alongside social housing developments. These efforts aim to transform dilapidated, polluted, and potentially hazardous residential areas into green, civilized, and safe living spaces, ensuring residents have secure housing and livelihood opportunities. The city is also investing in cultural and educational facilities, including the renovation of the Ho Chi Minh Museum branch and upgrades to schools.
