Ho Chi Minh City Mobilizes Public to Identify Martyrs' Remains

Ho Chi Minh City has officially launched a city-wide campaign to enlist the public's help in searching for and identifying the remains of martyrs.

The "500 Days and Nights Campaign" was initiated by the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. It calls on all levels of the system, social organizations, and citizens to contribute information and scientific evidence. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of efforts to locate, gather, and identify the remains of fallen soldiers, ensuring they can be returned to their hometowns.

War Invalids and Martyrs Day is an occasion to remember the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones, their youth, for the independence and freedom of the nation and the reunification of the country; at the same time, to express deep gratitude to war invalids, sick soldiers, people with meritorious services, and policy beneficiary families.

The launch took place during a meeting to honor war invalids and martyrs on the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's War Invalids and Martyrs Day. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stressed the importance of remembering the heroes who sacrificed their lives for national independence and reunification. He also expressed deep gratitude to war veterans and families of martyrs.

Loc specifically called on citizens to report any discoveries and provide information that could aid scientists in their work. He thanked military units, government agencies, scientists, and witnesses who have already contributed to this mission. The event also recognized individuals and organizations for their contributions to the "Repaying Gratitude" movement and supporting policy beneficiaries.
