Hotel Sultan eviction: 300 personnel prepared for asset documentation

Indonesia is gearing up for the execution of the Hotel Sultan eviction on June 18, a process that has been years in the making due to a protracted land dispute. A combined team of 300 personnel, including staff from the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Center (PPKGBK), the Ministry of State Secretariat, legal counsel, and asset appraisers, are being prepared for the task.

The primary focus for the eviction team will be meticulous recording and documentation of all assets present at the site. Hendry Arisandi, head of the GBK Block 15 Transition Team, emphasized the importance of this step, stating, "We want to ensure all items at the location are recorded and documented properly." This careful approach aims to ensure the eviction proceeds in an orderly, careful, safe, and legally compliant manner.

The Central Jakarta District Court has set the execution date for June 18. To facilitate the technical aspects of the eviction, the transition team is collaborating with state-owned electricity company PT PLN and PT Telkom Indonesia. During preparation sessions, personnel received detailed instructions on asset recording, documentation, and security procedures. PPKGBK is committed to safeguarding the assets, ensuring that items not affixed to the land and buildings remain the property of the previous operator, PT Indobuildco.

PT Indobuildco will be granted a six-month period to retrieve their belongings, which will be secured by PPKGBK. "Our principle is clear: this execution is the implementation of a court order. However, at the same time, we will protect the rights to the property of the previous operator," Hendry added. The land dispute has been ongoing for years, intensifying when PT Indobuildco failed to vacate the premises by the court's warning deadline on February 17, 2026. The Ministry of State Secretariat received the official notice of execution from the court on May 19, 2026, providing PT Indobuildco nearly a month to voluntarily leave the premises.
