Huang Min-hui and Huang Kuo-chang Accompany Chang Chi-kai in Chiayi Mayoral Registration

Former Taiwan People’s Party legislator Chang Chi-kai completed his registration for the Chiayi City mayoral election on Monday, accompanied by incumbent Mayor Huang Min-hui and Taiwan People’s Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang. Chang is being jointly backed by the Kuomintang and the Taiwan People’s Party.

Huang Kuo-chang described the two parties’ cooperation in Chiayi as smooth and unbreakable. He said the Taiwan People’s Party would work fully to send Chang to city hall and continue Huang Min-hui’s record of municipal administration, treating all residents as family.

Huang Min-hui called for unity after public polling selected the candidate. She said the blue-white partnership was built on shared principles and again declared her support for Chang to continue what she called Chiayi’s “happy city” tradition. She also urged people not to be swayed by rumors.

Chang said the Kuomintang had held more than 100 living-room meetings to build cooperation and continue Chiayi’s achievements. He said that, during his time as a legislator, he had worked with Huang and the city government to secure and promote construction projects. His platform includes continuing Huang’s 10 flagship programs and presenting 15 policy proposals.

Chang also challenged his Democratic Progressive Party opponent, Wang Mei-hui, to sign up for the election commission’s policy presentation and invited her to take part in a televised policy debate. He said the candidates should seek voters’ support through their policy positions. After registering, Chang rode in a campaign vehicle and waved to supporters outside the election commission as they chanted that unity brings strength.
