Hull City Signs Japanese Midfielder Hidemasa Morita from Sporting CP

Hull City, newly promoted to the Premier League, has secured the signing of Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita from Sporting CP. The 31-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with the English club, as announced by Hull City in a statement.

Morita brings a wealth of experience to his new team. During his four seasons with Sporting CP, from the summer of 2022, he played 112 matches, contributing 11 goals and 16 assists. His career also includes time with Japan's Kawasaki Frontale and Portugal's Santa Clara.

His trophy cabinet boasts multiple accolades, including two Japanese league titles with Kawasaki Frontale and two league titles and one Portuguese Cup with Sporting CP. Morita was also recognized for his performance in the Japanese league, being named in the best eleven of the year in 2020.

Internationally, Morita has earned 40 caps for the Japanese national team, scoring six goals. He was a key member of Japan's squad at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Upon his arrival at Hull City, Morita expressed his excitement, stating in a club video, "Hello, Hull City fans. I am very excited to be here and can't wait to play in front of all of you. I am really looking forward to it."
