Taiwanese band "Ice Hockey" has issued an apology after their lead singer's comments during a Hong Kong concert sparked accusations of dissing fellow popular band Mayday. The controversy erupted when lead singer Wang, while discussing the band's longevity, remarked, "This is like another band's slogan," before adding, "And I always sing live."

The phrase "singing until we're old" is a well-known promise between Mayday and their fans. Compounding the issue, Mayday's lead singer, Ashin, has faced past allegations of lip-syncing. Wang's comments, therefore, were quickly interpreted as a veiled criticism of Mayday's signature slogan and a potential accusation of fake performances.

Many netizens accused the band of being ungrateful, especially since they had previously been invited to perform at the "Super Slippa" music festival, an event associated with Mayday's management.

Wang took to social media to apologize for his "immature and careless" remarks. "Hello everyone, I am Wang. I am truly sorry and regretful for the discomfort and trouble my speech on stage yesterday caused everyone," he wrote. "For the harm caused by my immaturity and carelessness, I offer my deepest apologies here. In the future, I will strive to control my mouth, whether singing or speaking."
