Idaho Restaurant Shooting Leaves at Least 3 Dead, 2 Injured

At least three people died and two were injured Saturday in Twin Falls, Idaho, after a gunman opened fire inside an In-N-Out Burger restaurant, sparking scenes of panic.

The shooter was killed during the attack, according to authorities, though the state police have not yet released an official final toll. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks described the scene as "chaotic" to reporters. Josh Palmer, a spokesperson for the Twin Falls Police Department, confirmed the casualties to NBC News.

Videos circulating on social media and local news outlets appeared to show a young man with a rifle outside the restaurant, and another clip depicted over a dozen people fleeing in panic. The restaurant, which had been open for only a week, had quickly become a popular spot for locals. Twin Falls is a city of about 56,000 residents in southern Idaho.

Following the shooting, the Idaho State Police advised residents to avoid the area and blocked off surrounding roads, including the Perrine Bridge, a key route over the Snake River Canyon.
