Ignored 'Stop' signal, fled 5 kilometers: received 450,000 lira fine

A high-speed chase unfolded in İnegöl, Turkey, after a motorcyclist ignored police orders to stop. The incident began around midnight in the Mesudiye neighborhood when traffic police signaled the rider of a motorcycle with license plate 16 APG 391 to halt. However, the 36-year-old driver, identified as Ö.Ç., refused to comply and sped away, initiating a pursuit that lasted approximately 5 kilometers.

Following the chase, law enforcement officers successfully stopped the motorcycle and apprehended the driver. A subsequent check revealed that Ö.Ç. had a blood alcohol level of 1.07 permille, significantly exceeding the legal limit. Further investigation uncovered that the driver's license had been temporarily confiscated due to a previous offense of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As a consequence of his actions, the motorcyclist was issued a series of administrative fines totaling 450,000 Turkish Lira. This included a 200,000 Lira penalty for failing to stop when signaled by police, another 200,000 Lira for driving with a suspended license, and an additional 50,000 Lira for a second offense of driving while intoxicated. The motorcycle involved in the incident was impounded for 60 days, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the driver.
