Illegal Betting Operation in Turkey Leads to 70 Arrests Across 8 Provinces

Ankara, Turkey – In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, Turkish law enforcement has successfully dismantled a major illegal betting and organized crime ring. The operation, coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command's Cybercrime and Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime departments, along with MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) and the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, targeted 92 addresses across eight provinces.

This large-scale operation, which commenced on April 24, resulted in the apprehension of 81 individuals suspected of engaging in illegal online betting and forming an organization to commit crimes. Following initial interrogations at gendarmerie stations, the suspects were brought before the judiciary. The courts have ordered the detention of 70 individuals, while 11 others were released under judicial supervision, signifying a stern message against criminal enterprises operating within our borders.
