Incheon Security Guard Fatally Hit by SUV While Guiding Students; Driver Allegedly Took Sleeping Pills

A tragic accident in Incheon has claimed the life of a dedicated apartment security guard who was performing his duties, ensuring the safety of students during their morning commute. The 60-year-old guard, identified as Mr. B, was fatally struck by an SUV driven by a 40-year-old woman, Ms. A, in the Juan-dong area of Michuhol-gu.

According to reports from the Michuhol Police Station, the incident occurred around 8:23 AM. Mr. B was reportedly guiding students when he was hit by the vehicle. Despite immediate efforts by emergency services, who transported him to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.

Compounding the tragedy, preliminary investigations suggest that Ms. A had taken a significant dose of sleeping medication prior to driving. Police have stated they are investigating the possibility of driving under the influence of medication, with Ms. A reportedly claiming she took the pills due to severe insomnia. She has been booked on charges related to causing death by traffic accident.
