Independence Must Be Translated into a Stronger Economy, Perlis Chief Minister Says

Perlis Chief Minister Abu Bakar Hamzah said the meaning of independence should be measured through stronger economic foundations and improvements that residents can feel in daily life.

Speaking at the state’s 69th National Day celebration in Kangar, Abu Bakar outlined a development agenda focused on economic growth, investment, infrastructure, modern agriculture, tourism, education and human-capital development.

The state government wants Perlis to be known not only as a peaceful and prosperous state, but also for its dynamic economy, better employment opportunities and a future that gives younger residents reasons to remain and build their lives there.

He added that independence should bring more efficient, transparent, integrity-driven and effective government services.
