Indonesia Mandates Hajj Official Training for 2027 Pilgrimage

Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is implementing a mandatory training program for all Hajj officials in 2027, requiring them to attend a "barracks"-style education and training (diklat) to elevate service quality for Indonesian pilgrims.

Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, emphasized that practical experience has shown service quality is directly tied to official preparedness. "In the future, we will ensure all officials undergo training. Field experience shows that service quality is greatly influenced by the officials' readiness before working," Dahnil stated in Makkah.

This comprehensive requirement will apply to all personnel, including the Hajj and Umrah Organizing Committee (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, Regional Hajj Officers (PHD), and cluster and embarkation officials. The policy intends to bridge skill gaps between nationally and regionally recruited staff.

Furthermore, the ministry is introducing structural innovations for 2027, including the creation of a dedicated "Daker Armuzna" operational zone. This specialized unit will concentrate solely on managing critical areas like Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina, allowing assigned officials to focus entirely on ensuring the smooth movement and safety of millions of pilgrims during the peak Hajj phases. These improvements stem from positive evaluations of the 2026 Hajj organization, with early and thorough preparation identified as key to a more orderly, professional, and pilgrim-safety-oriented Hajj.
