Indonesia Releases Clean Population Data to Bolster Public Services

Indonesia's Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) has officially released its Clean Population Data (DKB) for the first semester of 2026. This milestone, announced during the National Population and Civil Registration Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, is designed to fortify the governance of data-driven public services across the nation.

The release underscores a commitment to continuous and measurable improvements in population data management, moving beyond mere procedural updates. "This data release is not just a routine semester activity. It is a marker that the efforts to improve and update population data carried out by the Ditjen Dukcapil are ongoing and measurable, not just discourse that stops on paper," stated a written release.

Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, formally launched the DKB, initiating strategic discussions on national population data management. Director General of Dukcapil, Teguh Setyabudi, presented the national population data profile, highlighting its diversity and outlining the 2027 policy direction for population administration. The data's placement at the meeting's outset ensures it serves as a common reference for all participants.

The DKB Semester I 2026 was compiled through ongoing consolidation, verification, validation, and updates. This rigorous process aims to minimize duplication, anomalies, and outdated resident information. The updated data serves as a crucial foundation for implementing the National Identity Number (NIK) and Digital Population Identity (IKD), which are central pillars of Indonesia's Digital Public Infrastructure. NIK acts as a primary identifier linking various electronic systems across ministries, agencies, and the private sector, while IKD offers a secure, real-time digital identity verification service.

Accurate and clean population data is expected to enhance the precision of social assistance distribution, preventing errors caused by duplicate or incorrect recipient statuses. It will also simplify and expedite identity verification for public services and bolster the reliability of digital transactions. The government utilizes this database for planning purposes, ensuring that policies and services are based on the most current and accurate demographic information.
