Indonesia's Defense Ministry, TNI to See Performance Allowance Rise to 90% by September 2026

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) and the National Armed Forces (TNI) are anticipating a significant boost to their performance allowances (tukin), with an increase from 70% to 90% expected to be disbursed starting September 2026. This development follows the issuance of Presidential Regulations No. 42 and 43 of 2026, which govern the performance allowance adjustments.

Director General of Defense Planning at Kemenhan, Maj. Gen. I Gusti Ngurah Wisnu Wardana, expressed optimism about the timeline, stating that discussions with the Ministry of Finance have been positive. He explained that the allowance increase is a natural progression, as Kemenhan and TNI have not seen adjustments since 2018. The hike aligns with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform's regulations, which stipulate conditions for increased allowances, including a high bureaucratic reform index and consistent clean audit opinions.

Well, for the Ministry of Defense and TNI it has been five consecutive times. Whereas the requirement here is three times. So this becomes a requirement, already meets the requirements for adjusting performance allowances towards 90 percent.
