IPC TPK Panjang container throughput surges 73.7%, boosting logistics activity

IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Panjang has reported a remarkable 73.7% increase in container throughput for June 2026, a substantial leap from the same period last year. This surge in activity underscores a significant strengthening of logistics and trade operations within the Lampung region and across southern Sumatra.

The impressive growth in container traffic is attributed to the heightened export-import activities and robust domestic distribution networks. This expansion solidifies the role of Panjang Port as a crucial node in Indonesia's national logistics system. Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK, emphasized the port's increasingly strategic position.

"This growth confirms that Panjang Port plays an increasingly strategic role as the main gateway for goods traffic in the southern gateway of Sumatra Island," Setiawan stated. He added that the June surge in container throughput is a testament to the company's commitment to adaptively responding to the dynamics of the logistics market.

Several factors contributed to this operational success. The addition of an ad hoc vessel by Pulau Laut Lines significantly boosted international shipping capacity. Concurrently, the launch of a new service by PT Buaya Mas Prima enhanced domestic inter-island container traffic. The reliability of the terminal's loading and unloading systems, along with strong collaboration among IPC TPK, shipping companies, and other port stakeholders, were also key to achieving these impressive results.
