Indonesia Targets 10 Million New Entrepreneurs by 2029

Indonesia's government is targeting the creation of 10 million new entrepreneurs by 2029. This initiative aims to increase the national entrepreneurship ratio and expand job creation. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has launched the "Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan" (Superior Entrepreneur Exchange) program.

This program is designed to provide integrated access to business development services for young people, aspiring entrepreneurs, MSME players, and existing business owners. Services include capacity building, legal assistance, financing access, and market expansion. Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman stated that the program aims to foster resilient entrepreneurs, offering comprehensive support from initial stages through to financing and market access.

"The goal is to produce resilient entrepreneurs. From the initial process, we accompany them, equip them with competencies, business mentality, and good business planning, until finally, we open access to financing and marketing," Abdurrahman said in Jakarta. Participants receive training, business strengthening, legal and certification facilitation, financial management training, and access to financing and marketing.

Financing options include formal channels like banks and the People's Business Credit (KUR), as well as non-formal options through financial technology (fintech) companies and other partners. The "Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan" event itself attracted around 1,500 students from various universities.
