Indonesia to Form Two Reserve Battalions Per Regency/City

Indonesia's Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) has announced plans to establish two Reserve Component Battalions (Yon Komcad) in every regency and city across the country. These reserve units are intended to act as a force multiplier, augmenting the capabilities of the Territorial Development Battalions (Yon TP), which are also slated for establishment in each administrative area.

This is an integral collaboration and cannot be separated from one another.

According to Head of the National Reserve Agency (Kabacadnas) of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema, the reserve components are integral to the main components and cannot be separated. Personnel in the Yon Komcad will undergo basic military training to support the Yon TP. The development of these reserve battalions will proceed in tandem with the main components, ensuring a synchronized expansion of defense capabilities nationwide.

Gabriel Lema explained that the concept involves the TNI's land, sea, and air forces, with one Territorial Development Battalion in each city or regency. The reserve components will enhance the overall strength, aligning with and harmonizing with the main components. He indicated that the Ministry of Defense is steadily working towards forming these two Yon Komcad to accompany the Yon TP throughout Indonesia.

We know, the concept in the development of the main components, namely the army, navy, and air force, one in every city/regency, will later be accompanied by one Territorial Development Battalion. Togetherness in the context of these reserve components strengthens the power, this adjusts and harmonizes.

While the Ministry is committed to forming the reserve battalions, Gabriel Lema stated that there is no specific timeline. The formation process is dependent on the progress of the Yon TP development. He expressed hope for a swift realization but emphasized the need to adjust to the ongoing development of the main components. Indonesia's defense strategy relies on the People's Universal Defense and Security System (Sishankamrata), which encompasses the main components, reserve components, and supporting components.

There is a program that we have prepared. When will it be realized? With the existing conditions, with the existing needs, the program process is like now we continue to take steps for formation, we hope it is fast, but we adjust to the development of the main components.
