Indonesian House Receives Four Nominees for Bank Indonesia Leadership

Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) has received four nominations from President Prabowo Subianto to fill key leadership positions at Bank Indonesia (BI). The proposals, submitted via a Presidential Letter (Supres), are set to be processed by the DPR following the opening of the new legislative session on August 14, 2026.

Among the nominees is Destry Damayanti, who has been proposed as the sole candidate for the Governor of Bank Indonesia. Additionally, Aida S. Budiman is nominated for Senior Deputy Governor. The positions for Deputy Governor will be filled by Solihin M. Juhro and M. Anwar Bashori.

After the opening of the session, we will process these names according to the existing mechanisms in the DPR.

DPR Speaker Puan Maharani confirmed that the House will adhere to its established mechanisms and regulations for processing these nominations. She emphasized that the legislative body will commence the review process immediately after the session opens, aiming to approve the candidates before they are officially appointed by the President.

The proposed nominations cover crucial roles within BI's leadership structure. The Governor of BI plays a central role in shaping monetary policy, while the Senior Deputy Governor and Deputy Governors support the execution of the central bank's duties and authorities. The DPR's approval is a necessary step before the President can formally inaugurate the new BI leadership.
