Indonesian Lawmakers Scrutinize Death of Ex-Policeman's Wife, Urge Thorough Probe

The Indonesian House of Representatives' Commission III is closely following the case of Winda Lorenza, 35, who was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in Medan, North Sumatra. Lorenza, the former wife of a police officer, was initially presumed to have died by suicide using a firearm.

However, her family has expressed doubts and pointed to irregularities, leading them to suspect foul play. This has prompted Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman to urge the North Sumatra Regional Police and the Medan City Police to conduct a thorough, transparent, and scientific investigation.

"We, Commission III of the DPR RI, will oversee this case," Habiburokhman stated. He emphasized that no facts should be concealed and that authorities must avoid hasty conclusions. The committee plans to hold a public hearing with the police and the victim's family next Tuesday to gather more information and ensure the investigation proceeds objectively and professionally.

The case highlights the importance of due process and the need for thorough investigation when a victim's family raises concerns, especially in cases involving potential domestic violence or suspicious circumstances surrounding a death.
