Indonesian Ministry Respects KPK Investigation into Unsoed University Bribery Allegations

Indonesia's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has stated its respect for the ongoing legal proceedings after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested several officials from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto. The arrests are reportedly linked to an investigation into alleged bribery concerning new student admissions. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, affirmed that the ministry "fully respects the ongoing legal process" and will "monitor its developments and coordinate as necessary." He emphasized that the enforcement of law is entirely entrusted to the KPK. The ministry indicated it would conduct further investigations if aspects related to the implementation of higher education and university governance were involved. Kemdiktisaintek stressed the significant responsibility universities hold in maintaining integrity, accountability, and public trust. "Integrity is the main foundation of higher education. Public trust must be maintained through transparent, accountable, and responsible governance," Minister Yuliarto stated. He also urged the entire Unsoed academic community to continue their educational, research, and community service activities, maintaining a conducive academic atmosphere during the legal process.
