Indonesian National Team Coach John Herdman to Participate in Merdeka Run 2026

Indonesian National Team coach John Herdman is set to join the Merdeka Run 2026 in Jakarta on Saturday, August 29, 2026. His participation was confirmed by Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman, Deputy for Sports Industry Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

There's John (Herdman) who will join the run. I don't know who John will run with, but he said he will run with Ivar (Jenner).

Herdman is expected to run alongside other participants, potentially including Indonesian National Team midfielder Ivar Jenner. The Merdeka Run 2026 anticipates over 10,000 runners and aims to boost the excitement with the presence of various sports figures and celebrities, including Gisella Anastasia and Raffi Ahmad. Several ministers, such as Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, are also slated to attend.

I will only be present there, but I will not participate in the run because I am not feeling fit. Maybe tomorrow is a day off, I will still come to give support.

However, Ivar Jenner clarified his role in the event. After collecting his racepack, the Dewa United player stated he would only be present to offer support, not to compete, as he is not feeling physically fit. Jenner expressed his appreciation for the community's enthusiasm for the 8-kilometer run and wished all participants success.

Jenner also shared a memorable experience from Indonesia's 81st Independence Day celebrations, where he witnessed the public's joy during a parade. He described the atmosphere as "very pleasant" and "extraordinary."
