Indonesian Palace Unfazed by President Prabowo's Declining Survey Numbers

The Indonesian Presidential Palace has dismissed concerns over a recent survey indicating a decline in President Prabowo Subianto's public satisfaction and electability. The State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, asserted that the government's focus remains on executing the president's programs, rather than being swayed by poll numbers.

"Since the beginning, we have always conveyed that we are not working to seek surveys," Prasetyo stated in a release from the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday night. He expressed confidence that President Prabowo's initiatives are beneficial to the public and that all government bodies will continue their work on the president's proposed agenda. "We never solely focus on or work just to chase a survey. But from what we have been working on, we are confident that the people will be able to accept what we have implemented as campaign promises," he added.

However, the survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) presents a different picture. Released on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the poll suggests that President Prabowo Subianto would likely not win the general election if it were held today. The survey placed him in second position in a semi-open presidential election simulation, with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi leading.

According to SMRC Executive Director Deni Irvani, Prabowo's electability in the simulation has fallen from 34.9 percent in November 2026 to 14.5 percent in July 2026. In contrast, Dedi Mulyadi's electability has risen from 19.7 percent to 35 percent during the same period. The SMRC survey involved 749 randomly selected respondents, with a margin of error of approximately 3.7 percent.
