Indonesian Parliament, BRI Situbondo Partner with Muslimat NU to Boost MSME Financial Literacy

A collaborative initiative between the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VI and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Cabang Situbondo has been launched to bolster financial literacy among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and members of Muslimat NU in Situbondo.

The socialization event, held at SMA Negeri 2 Situbondo, focused on enhancing participants' understanding of financial management and improving their access to broader financing options. Member of Commission VI DPR RI, HM Nasim Khan, explained that the meeting was designed to present banking programs and gather direct feedback from MSME pelaku (actors/participants).

We are facilitating a meeting between MSME actors and Muslimat NU with BRI Situbondo Branch to present banking programs and simultaneously absorb aspirations from the community.

Beyond introducing banking products, the session provided in-depth education on the banking system. Hundreds of attendees learned about the People's Business Credit (KUR) program and received stern warnings regarding the dangers of illegal online loans, which have become a significant concern.

Nasim Khan emphasized that the forum also served as a crucial platform for addressing community grievances, particularly those related to obstacles in accessing formal financial institutions. He pledged continued oversight and assistance for the challenges faced by residents in East Java, specifically within his electoral district (Dapil Jatim III), which includes Situbondo, Bondowoso, and Banyuwangi. The initiative plans to intensify such oversight and partnership activities, engaging other Himbara banks and state-owned enterprises in the region.

In the future, these supervision and partnership synergy activities will continue to be intensified and involve all Himbara bank networks and other SOEs in the Situbondo, Bondowoso, and Banyuwangi regions.
