Indonesian Police Chief Addresses Replacement Rumors

Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has responded to circulating rumors about a presidential letter concerning his potential replacement. Prabowo stated that the decision to replace the head of the Bhayangkara Corps rests solely with President Prabowo Subianto. "It's the President's prerogative. So, for us soldiers, whatever is required will be done. We'll just wait," he said, as quoted by ANTARA news agency.

Prabowo emphasized that the speculation surrounding a presidential letter would not disrupt the National Police's operational performance. "It doesn't really (disturb performance)," he asserted. His comments came after members of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III publicly denied the existence of any presidential letter regarding the Police Chief's replacement.

He urged the public to disregard unsubstantiated rumors. Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of DPR Commission III, echoed this sentiment, claiming no knowledge of such a letter. "We don't (have the letter), absolutely not yet," Sahroni said.
