Indonesian Student Body Elects New National Coordinator

Andira Yofi Sulendra, a student from Institut Teknologi PLN, has been elected as the new Central Coordinator for the Indonesian Student Executive Bodies (BEM SI) for the 2026-2027 period. The decision was made during the BEM SI National Deliberation (Munas), held from July 27 to August 1, 2026, at the Semarang State Polytechnic campus.

The deliberation saw participation from around 150 universities affiliated with the BEM SI alliance. The election process involved three candidates from Universitas Lampung, Universitas Riau, and Institut Teknologi PLN. Following deliberations and a voting mechanism, Sulendra secured the majority of votes.

Upon receiving his mandate, Sulendra outlined his leadership priorities, emphasizing the strengthening of regional consolidation. He believes BEM SI's strength lies not only in central coordination but also in building robust communication and networks across various regions. "We will strengthen regional consolidation. BEM SI must not only be strong at the center but must be present and felt down to the regions," Sulendra stated.

He further stressed the importance of intensive inter-campus communication to ensure that student issues and aspirations from different regions are connected and form part of a shared agenda. Sulendra aims to eliminate the distance between the central leadership and regional branches, ensuring all campuses have equal opportunities to voice their ideas and concerns, fostering a more solid, inclusive, and relevant student movement.
