INEC, ADC mum as reps candidate maintains valid primaries stand

A political crisis is unfolding within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nigeria's Kebbi state, as a candidate for the House of Representatives, Sadiq Sa'adu Fakai, alleges an illegal attempt to replace him. Fakai maintains he is the validly produced candidate from primaries for the Sakaba, Danko/Wasagu, Zuru, and Fakai federal constituency.

Fakai asserts that his signature was forged to create a fake affidavit for his purported replacement. He has alerted both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ADC leadership in writing through his legal counsel, emphasizing that the matter is currently before a court of jurisdiction. He views the silence from INEC and the ADC as tacit approval of illegality.

"The silence of INEC and ADC means they have approved illegality which we will not allow to stand," Fakai stated. He vowed that loyal party members would sustain pressure on both bodies and pursue the matter legally to its conclusion. Fakai expressed dismay over the Kebbi state ADC leadership's inability to resolve the escalating problem.

The candidate warned that a forceful replacement would jeopardize the ADC's chances in the upcoming general elections, especially as the party is reportedly gaining traction nationwide. He urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, reiterating that no replacement would be accepted in his constituency's case.
