Inter-institutional futsal tournament in Fuerte Olimpo enters its second edition

The community of Fuerte Olimpo in Paraguay is buzzing with activity as the second annual inter-institutional futsal tournament kicked off Friday evening. Organized by the Federación Olimpeña de Fútbol de Salón, the event has drawn a large number of teams from diverse public institutions within the district.

A total of 11 teams are competing in this year's tournament, representing entities such as the National Police, Judiciary, Prosecutor's Office, Teachers, Governorate, Municipality, Regional Hospital, and Municipal Board. Other participating groups include the Paraguayan Navy, Fundassa, and Tekoporã, with the latter joining forces with members of Senepa.

The matches are scheduled to take place every weekend at the Colegio Ángel Muzzolón sports complex. The competition follows a round-robin league system, culminating in playoffs to determine the champion. Awards will also be presented for top scorer, best goalkeeper, and best team, among other recognitions.

Abel Méndez, president of the Federación Olimpeña de Fútbol de Salón, highlighted the tournament's objectives. "We want to strengthen the sense of belonging and identification with each of the institutions that the players represent and, of course, promote, through sport, values such as respect, discipline, teamwork, and coexistence," he stated.

Similar to the inaugural event in 2025, the opening day saw a significant turnout of spectators, underscoring the community's enthusiasm for the tournament. Organizers hope this strong support will continue throughout the competition, fostering a spirit of unity and friendly rivalry.
