Inumet issues yellow alert for severe thunderstorms across parts of Uruguay

The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) has issued a yellow alert for severe thunderstorms affecting several parts of the country. The alert, initially released on Saturday, is subject to updates at 11:00 AM or if significant weather changes occur.

Inumet forecasts that the affected regions will experience "locally strong thunderstorms." These storms could bring heavy downpours in short periods, hail, very strong wind gusts, and intense electrical activity, posing a risk to these areas.

The specific departments and localities under the yellow alert include: Artigas (entire department), Cerro Largo (Arachania, Arbolito, Barrio Hipodromo, Barrio La Vinchuca, Barrio López Benítez, Bañado de medina, Getulio Vargas, Isidoro Noblía, La Pedrera, Lago Merín, Las Cañas, Melo, Plácido Rosas, Poblado Uruguay, and Río Branco), Paysandú (Tambores), Rivera (entire department), Rocha (18 de Julio, Barra del Chuy, Cebollati, Chuy, Palmares de la Coronilla, Puimayen, and San Luis Al Medio), Salto (Arapey, Belén, Biassini, Cayetano, Cerro de Vera, Colonia Itapebí, Fernández, Lluveras, Migliaro, Puntas de Valentín, Quintana, Rincón de Valentín, Sarandí de Arapey, Saucedo, and Termas del Arapey), Tacuarembó (Ansina, Arerungua, Balneario Iporá, La Hilera, La Pedrera, Paso Bonilla, Paso del Cerro, Pueblo de Arriba, Pueblo de Barro, Punta de Carretera, Sauce de Batoví, Tacuarembó, and Tambores), and Treinta y Tres (Arrocera Zapata, Arrozal Treinta y Tres, General Enrique Martínez, Rincón, and Vergara).
