Iran Claims Missile Strike on US Warship in Hormuz; US Denies

Iranian state media, specifically the Fars News Agency, has claimed that an Iranian naval vessel successfully struck a US warship with two missiles in the Strait of Hormuz, compelling its withdrawal. The US command clarified that their forces are engaged in 'Operation Freedom,' aimed at facilitating the safe evacuation of vessels affected by Iran's maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This operation, initiated on May 4th, does not include escorting ships through the strait, according to US government officials.
