Iran denies ordering drone attacks on Saudi Arabia amid regional tensions

An Iranian official has vehemently denied any Tehran-orchestrated attacks on Saudi Arabia, pushing back against Riyadh's accusations that Iran was behind drone strikes targeting its energy infrastructure. The denial comes after Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense claimed that drones launched from Iraqi territory, operated by militias aligned with Iran, were responsible for the assaults.

Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, stated that these "terrorist attacks" reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's right to self-defense. However, the Iranian official, speaking to the state-run IRIB news agency, dismissed the claims as a "grave miscalculation" stemming from a lack of regional understanding. This exchange highlights escalating tensions between the two regional powers.

Adding another layer to the conflict, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that U.S. and Saudi forces carried out precise strikes against Iran-aligned militia positions in eastern Iraq. These strikes were described as a response to over thirty drone attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against U.S. forces and Saudi energy facilities in the preceding 72 hours. CENTCOM warned the IRGC and its allies to cease their attacks to prevent further military action.
