Iran Ready to Send 30,000 Hajj Pilgrims Via Land-Air Route, Awaiting Saudi Approval?

Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization has announced its readiness to dispatch 30,000 pilgrims to the Holy Land for the upcoming Hajj season. This year's pilgrimage will feature a unique combined land and air travel scheme, a departure from previous years, reflecting adaptive planning in response to current conditions and agreements with Saudi authorities.

Akbar Rezaei, Deputy for Hajj and Umrah Affairs at the organization, detailed the preparations, emphasizing that all plans are aligned with the signed contract and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The new travel structure involves pilgrims journeying by land through Iraq to the Arar border crossing, where they will then be flown to Madinah. The return journey will follow a similar pattern, flying from Jeddah to Arar before continuing overland through Iraq.

We are ready to send Iranian pilgrims to the Holy Land based on the agreed contract, according to the existing conditions and after obtaining approval from the authorities in our country.

This logistical arrangement is a significant aspect of the Hajj pilgrimage for Iranian citizens. From that point (Arar), pilgrims will then be flown to Madinah Al-Munawarah. For the return route, pilgrims will depart from Jeddah Airport to the Arar border, and continue their land journey through Iraq back to their homeland.
