The move signals a significant shift in power, with Khamenei throwing his support behind Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Ahmad Vahidi on crucial decisions regarding regional conflicts and diplomatic engagements with the U.S.

Israeli media reports, citing sources familiar with Tehran's internal dynamics, suggest Khamenei has undermined Pezeshkian's political leverage. The president had allegedly threatened resignation multiple times during policy disagreements and even formally sought to resign in May, citing his administration's sidelining from national security and foreign policy matters. Khamenei's latest position appears to align fully with the military establishment, leaving Pezeshkian with limited influence over strategic policymaking.

The reports indicate a hardening of Iran's stance towards the U.S., with Vahidi's approach now effectively dictating the regime's official policy.
