Isack Hadjar to miss Spanish Grand Prix as well

Isack Hadjar will miss another Formula 1 race as he continues recovering from a left wrist injury, Red Bull announced on Monday. The French driver will sit out this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, even though the team said his recovery is progressing well.

Liam Lawson will again drive alongside Max Verstappen for Red Bull. Yuki Tsunoda will take Lawson’s seat at Racing Bulls, repeating the changes used for the previous two races.

“After having driven for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue driving alongside Max in the Spanish Grand Prix,” Red Bull said in a statement. The team added that Hadjar is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, but will be present in Madrid to support the squad.

Hadjar turns 22 later this month. He injured his left wrist during training over the summer break and currently sits eighth in the world championship with 71 points. His season has included a third-place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix and a run of seven consecutive top-six results before the injury.

Lawson finished seventh at Zandvoort but placed only 14th at Monza. Red Bull director Laurent Mekies had already indicated in Italy that Hadjar was unlikely to recover in time for Spain, stressing the importance of waiting until the Frenchman is fully fit before returning.
