Islamic Military Alliance and Turkey say Mecca Agreement supports security and stability

The Mecca Agreement represents an important step toward cooperation, solidarity and security, according to the Islamic Military Alliance and Turkey.

The alliance’s secretary-general, Lieutenant General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, made the remarks during a meeting in Riyadh with Turkey’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ermut İşler. The two officials discussed cooperation in areas of shared interest and ways to strengthen coordination against terrorism and extremism.

They also addressed the rapidly changing security and intellectual challenges facing the region and the wider international community. Both sides stressed the importance of building on the agreement’s principles to reinforce joint efforts against terrorism and extremism and support international security and peace.

During the visit, İşler toured the alliance’s headquarters and specialized centers. He received a briefing on its working methods and on how it prepares and implements programs and initiatives in member states. Al-Moghidi also reviewed the alliance’s strategic work in its four areas: intellectual efforts, media, combating terrorist financing and other related initiatives.
