Israel allegedly lied to Trump about Iran assassination plot in Turkey

A clandestine operation last month saw U.S. President Donald Trump secretly depart Turkey on a substitute military aircraft, a mission previously undisclosed. The move was reportedly prompted by threats from Iran to assassinate the president.

Documents obtained by The Washington Post, along with accounts from an official and other sources familiar with the matter, reveal the details of this covert mission. Trump was said to have been transferred to a smaller, military C-32A aircraft via a catering truck shortly after appearing to board his older presidential jet in Ankara. This maneuver disguised the presidential plane as a decoy.

Many journalists and some White House staff were unaware of the change, believing they were on the same flight as the president. The U.S. government had previously stated that Trump left Turkey on July 8th using his older presidential plane, and Trump himself had announced via social media that he would use the "old presidential plane" rather than the new one that brought him to Turkey.
