ISWAP terrorists killed in failed attack on troops in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have achieved a significant victory, decisively repelling an attempted attack by ISWAP terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. The Nigerian military reported that the coordinated assault, launched from two fronts around 2:00 AM on August 15, 2026, was met with superior firepower. A combat team was dispatched to intercept the terrorists, leading to a heavy exchange of fire that defeated the attackers on one axis. Another group attempting to bypass the ambush was also repelled by the troops' aggressive response. The insurgents were forced to withdraw in confusion, with troops launching a pursuit and exploiting the contact area. Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, stated that the operation resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and a camcorder.
