Italian music and culture to fill Asunción with two cultural events

Asunción will host two days of Italian culture and music on August 20 and 21, featuring international guests and Paraguayan artists. Both events are free of charge.

O’ Sole mio

The program is part of a project by the Società Dante Alighieri committees across South America, coordinated by the Mar del Plata committee. Its goal is to promote Italian language and culture through music and foster intercultural dialogue.

The first event, "Con te partirò: L’uso delle canzoni per l’insegnamento della lingua, della cultura e della letteratura italiana," is a training session for Italian teachers. Scheduled for August 20 at the Instituto Dante Alighieri, it will be led by Professor Fabio Caon from the Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia. The session will explore using songs in teaching Italian language, culture, and literature. Participation is free but requires pre-registration by August 17.

Qualcosa più dell’ora – If Only

Following the training, the concert "Made in Italy: le canzoni italiane più famose nel mondo" will take place on August 21 at the Hotel Excelsior. This free event will showcase globally popular Italian songs like "Con te partirò" and "O’ Sole mio." International guests include Italian composer Francesco Sartori, known for "Con te partirò," and keyboardist-singer Angelo Lacitignola. Paraguayan artists soprano Mayra Torres and tenor Mustafà Dujak will also perform. The concert will include audience interaction.
