Jakarta LRT to Launch with Rp5,000 Flat Fare Until October

Jakarta's Light Rail Transit (LRT) system will implement a temporary flat fare of Rp5,000 for the Manggarai-Kelapa Gading route until October, announced DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. This interim fare structure aims to facilitate passenger use as the system nears its official launch.

Pramono stated that a final, permanent fare will be determined in October. While hinting at a potential "gift" or special offer for commuters, he emphasized that the Rp5,000 flat rate will be in effect until then. The governor expressed hope that the final decision on the overall LRT Jakarta fare would be made collaboratively by October.

Construction on the LRT's elevated tracks and lines is complete at 100 percent. The project is currently undergoing final testing by the Ministry of Transportation. The inauguration is slated for August 26, with President Prabowo Subianto expected to officiate, though the exact timing depends on his schedule, which is currently occupied with wildfire and earthquake relief efforts in NTT.

Once inaugurated, the LRT is expected to operate on a full schedule, mirroring the KRL commuter train's hours from 5:00 AM to midnight. The extension to Dukuh Atas is targeted for completion in August 2028.
