Jakarta Police Deputy Chief Promoted to Two-Star General as Senior Officers Receive New Ranks

Dekananto Eko Purwono, deputy chief of the Jakarta Metro Police, has officially become an inspector general, or two-star police general. The Jakarta Metro Police confirmed the promotion Wednesday.

Police public relations chief Budi Hermanto described the rank increase as part of career development and organizational dynamics within the Indonesian National Police. He said the new rank also carried greater responsibility.

The promotion followed Presidential Decree No. 82/POLRI/TAHUN 2026, dated Sept. 1, 2026, covering promotions into and within the senior police officer ranks. National police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo led the promotion ceremony at police headquarters on Wednesday.

The promotion is also a mandate and responsibility that must be carried out with increasing professionalism, integrity and the best possible service to the public.

Several other senior Jakarta Metro Police officials also received new ranks. They include internal affairs inspector Sri Satyatama, operations bureau chief Laode Aries El Fathar and planning bureau chief Teguh Tri Sasongko, all of whom now hold the rank of brigadier general.

Budi said the officials would continue carrying out their responsibilities in their existing positions. He said they were expected to strengthen organizational unity and improve public service, protection and assistance. The adjustment also follows the appointment of Asep Edi Suheri as Jakarta Metro Police chief with the rank of commissioner general.
