Jakarta to Offer Special Rp 8 Fare During LRT Trial Run

Jakarta's provincial government is set to launch a trial run for the new LRT Jakarta Phase 1B route, connecting Velodrome to Manggarai, even though the official inauguration has been postponed. Governor Anies Baswedan announced that the public will soon be able to use the new line, bridging the gap between Kelapa Gading and Manggarai.

The point is this, I have asked for a trial to be conducted in the field.

To entice commuters during this trial phase, a special, nominal fare of Rp 8 will be implemented. Governor Baswedan expressed his intention to expedite the process, stating, "I will immediately request that the duration of this trial be specifically determined, the fare is Rp 8." This move aims to encourage public adoption of the new public transportation line.

While the trial run is imminent, the exact start date and duration are yet to be finalized. Governor Baswedan indicated that a Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) is necessary to officially set the Rp 8 fare and outline the parameters of the trial period. He plans to sign this regulation promptly to formalize the arrangements.

The expansion of the LRT Jakarta is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the densely populated areas it serves, including Kelapa Gading, Velodrome, Pramuka, and Manggarai.
